Au pays ou se fait la guerre - Duparc
Took me almost a year to get this song down.
I’m from Reston, VA. I’m sort of an opera singer. Ok. Now.
I was doing some research on the history of Reston. It was the first planned community in America, it’s a great place, yada yada… all of this I knew.
What I didn’t know… Get this:
Reston was founded by Robert. E. Simon (R.E.S. To(w)n) and according to my great friend Wikipedia —
After graduating from Harvard University, Simon took over the family real estate management and development business. In 1961, with the proceeds from the sale of a family property, Carnegie Hall, Simon purchased 6,750 acres (27 km²) of land in Fairfax County, Virginia and hired Conklin + Rossant[2] to develop a master plan for the new town of Reston, Virginia, a planned community well known on the national level. Simon’s new town concept emphasized quality of life for the individual and provided a community where people could live, work, and play without driving long distances.
WHAAAAAT??! I live in the town that was paid for with money from the sale of Carnegie Hall???! This is a stage I will totally sing on, hopefully sooner than later.
What are the odds. Really. Super cool.
Gah. This is beautiful.
Behind the Scenes on making Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows score

Alexandre Desplat is one of my favorite film scorers. He’s just amazing.
